Waterlogging Disrupts Industrial Operations In Gurugram, Industry Seeks Action

Gurugram, Aug 7 (KNN) Waterlogging following rainfall has disrupted industrial operations in Gurugram's Sector 16 and IMT Manesar industrial areas, with industry bodies urging authorities to implement immediate and long-term measures to address recurring infrastructure issues.

Waterlogging Disrupts Production In Sector 16, IDC Industrial Area

The Gurugram Industrial Association (GIA) said several industrial units in Sector 16 and the IDC industrial area were affected by waterlogging and sewer overflow, forcing some factories to halt production and causing financial losses.

According to the association, around 250 industrial units operate in the IDC area, employing thousands of workers. Waterlogging has hampered the movement of workers, factory officials, customers and transport vehicles, affecting operational efficiency.

GIA President Sumit Rao said the association has repeatedly written to the concerned authorities regarding the issue but no permanent solution has been implemented. 

He urged the government to take corrective measures to prevent industries from suffering recurring losses during the monsoon.

IMT Manesar Industries Also Hit By Flooded Roads

Waterlogging was also reported in IMT Manesar, where industrial operations were affected. IMT Manesar Industrial Association General Secretary Manoj Tyagi said many workers were unable to reach factories due to flooded roads.

Industry Body Seeks Immediate Drainage Improvements

On Wednesday, representatives of the Gurugram Industrial Association submitted a memorandum to Municipal Corporation of Gurugram Executive Engineer Vijay Daka, reiterating their demand for immediate drainage improvements.

The association said infrastructure development works promised before the onset of the monsoon had not been completed, resulting in recurring flooding and disruption to industrial activity.
