Highlights from AAP's maiden budget

New Delhi, June 26 (KNN) In the Aam Admi Party’s maiden budget, which the party called “country’s first Swaraj budget”, money allocated for education increased by 106 per cent to Rs 9,836 crores, the highest share in the budget, followed by Rs5,085 crore for transport and Rs 4,787 crore for health.
 
The Delhi government presented a Rs 41,129 crore budget, which included Rs 253 crore for the "Swaraj Nidhi" to be dispensed in accordance the demands of people. 
 
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, while presenting the budget, said the biggest benefit for the youth from this budget is the creation of one lakh jobs and free Wi-Fi.


Here are 10 highlights of the AAP budget:

1.    106 per cent hike in education allocation to Rs. 9836 crore.

2.    CCTV cameras to be installed in all government schools.

3.    Students to be provided collateral-free loans up to Rs. 10 lakh for higher education, at lower interest rates.

4.    Municipal corporations to get Rs. 5,908 crore.

5.    Rs. 4787 crore allocated for health. 100 new hospitals to be added under Private Public Partnership (PPP) model.

6.    No new tax and no increase in VAT and other taxes on essential goods.

7.    10,000 new buses, CCTV cameras in all DTC buses and cluster buses (private buses that operate on DTC routes) in the city to ensure safety of women.

8.    Rs. 3,656 crore allocated for reviving and beautifying river Yamuna.

9.    Rs. 1690 crore for subsidy on water and electricity, keeping their election promise in mind.

10.  Free Wi-Fi in all colleges and rural areas of Delhi. (KNN Bureau)
