Himachal Pradesh govt to help set up venture capital fund: CM Sukhu

Shimla, June 28 (KNN) Himachal Pradesh chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday informed that the state government will  assist in setting up a venture capital fund, according to a report in TOI.

With the aim to boost the information technology sector in Himachal Pradesh, the state government plans to assist in setting up a venture capital fund and encourage financial institutions to invest in emerging technologies and innovative business model, he said.

CM Sukhu said that his government also aims to promote the use of latest technologies such as drones, 5G, internet of things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI) tools, and entitlement-based benefit delivery by integrating multiple databases and creating an info-highway. 

“Digital technologies have brought a revolution in the delivery of government services. In a move to accelerate the digital transformation of Himachal Pradesh, the government has approved renaming of department of information technology to department of digital technologies and governance,” he said.

The CM informed that the department will play a crucial role in implementing and managing various e-governance initiatives. These endeavours aim to enhance the efficiency, transparency, and overall citizen experience in the government sector. 

Sukhu said it will also boost investment in the IT and electronic system design and manufacturing sectors, and facilitate collaboration and partnerships among academia, industry and government.

“It will push the government’s agenda to establish IT parks in the state as well,” he added. 

Recently, the Himachal Pradesh government has been focusing on digital transformation, reliable data, connectivity, and inclusive development underscores its commitment to leveraging advanced digital technologies for the betterment of the state and its citizens.  (KNN Bureau)
