As per reports, the state government has also decided to establish a Unity Mall in the state to foster balanced regional development across all districts of the country.

He said that products will be selected by taking into consideration the existing ecosystem. Activities like exhibitions, capacity building, etc. at the State and district level are also included in the initiative. GI-tagged products of the State, handicraft products and handicrafts of other States will be available under one roof.

“The state government is committed to promote the handicrafts and handloom of the state in a big way. This will provide unique products to the consumers besides employment and self-employment opportunities to the rural artisans in their own region,” he added.

The state government successfully hosted the G-20 Summit on April 19 and 20 2023 at Dharamshala showcasing the state’s products, which were highly appreciated by the foreign delegates.

Himachal Pradesh Handloom and Handicraft Corporation, which is acting as a normal agency for the promotion of the artists and weavers associated with handicraft and handloom, has embarked upon an ambitious plan to add more products to the list of items already popular, within and outside the state.

“We are doing lots of innovations based on in-house research, besides providing training to the artisans to create new designs for international marketing. With efforts underway, Himachal Pradesh will soon become a hub of international brands based on traditional handicrafts,” said a spokesman of the Corporation.  (KNN Bureau)
