“Hunar Haat” to kick off in Puducherry, opportunities for artisans-craftsmen

New Delhi, Sept 21 (KNN) Eyeing at providing a market for the artisan community thriving from the micro and tiny units of the region, the Ministry of Minority Affairs will be organising “Hunar Haat” at Puducherry, one of renowned centre of art & culture, from 24th to 30th September, 2017.

The prime focus of the intitiative would be to to provide market and opportunity to master artisans belonging to the minority communities.

Union Minister for Minority Affairs, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi in a press release informed said that such “Hunar Haat”, have taken place earlier in different parts of the country and have proven to be very successful and encouraging for master artisans.

Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Puducherry Chief Minister Shri V Narayanasamy will be inaugurating the “Hunar Haat”, to be organised at Craft Bazaar, Gandhi Thidal Beach, Goubert Avenue, Puducherry.

Master artisans from over 16 states including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland, Orissa, Puducherry and Uttarakhand etc will be displaying work at the event.

Among the key item for sale, handicraft and handloom items including hyderabad pearl, wrought iron & wood carving, wooden and sandalwood items, hand-made jewellery are expected to be at the display stalls.

Also tie and die,  kantha embroidered jean bags, handloom bed sheets, ceramic/clay items, black stone pottery, hand embroidery, chiken work, leather items will be a part of the event. (KNN/DA)
