Bhubaneshwar, May 10 (KNN) The Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) is planning to develop a World Trade Centre (WTO) in the state capital with a segment concerning the meetings, incentive, conventions and exhibitions (MICE) facilities, comprising a convention centre, a star category hotel facility and other facilities.

IDCO has appointed an architectural and planning firm of international repute to develop the architectural design for the convention centre and the WTC as green eco-friendly buildings.

The convention centre and the WTC are proposed to be developed in accordance with the design and construction requirements as developed by the architect firm.

In this context, IDCO has sought to appoint a market consultant to provide assistance in carrying out a demand assessment survey; assessment of economic viability of the project; carrying out a preliminary environmental and social review; and documentation of case studies on similar projects implemented worldwide.

The objective of the economic analysis is to assess the opportunity costs of resources employed and attempts to measure in monetary terms the private and social costs and benefits of the project to the community and the economy, IDCO said.

It wants to do the macro assessment of the convention centre industry in the country (including Odisha) which would include assessment of number of events held in the past few years, profile of the events, capacity of such events, estimates of revenue generation from such events etc.

The corporation also wants a profiling of events that can be held in Bhubaneshwar which would further boost tourism potential of the state along with identification of measures that would be critical to attract such events along with assessment of likely revenue income from such events.
