India, Nepal May Explore Stronger MSME & Investment Collaboration Prospects In Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, Jun 2 (KNN) A delegation from Nepal and the Indian Industries Association (IIA) held a strategic meeting to explore opportunities for strengthening trade, investment and micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) collaboration between Nepal and Uttar Pradesh.

The discussions covered key sectors such as food processing, agro-based industries, tourism, cross-border logistics, information technology, renewable energy and manufacturing, reflecting a broad push to deepen bilateral economic engagement.

The Nepal delegation was led by Chargé d’Affaires Dr Surendra Thapa and included Economic Minister Tara Nath Adhikari, Economic Counsellor Rabindra Jung Thapa and Accounts Counsellor Bhesh Prasad Bhurtel. The team interacted with industrialists, exporters and MSME representatives from across Uttar Pradesh, TOI reported.

Focus on Economic Partnerships

Officials from the IIA said the dialogue aimed to convert the long-standing cultural and geographical ties between India and Nepal into tangible business opportunities. 

“This is the right time to convert the existing goodwill into practical business opportunities,” said Aman Agrawal, Chairman, IIA’s International Relations Cell, as quoted by TOI.

Investment Opportunities Highlighted

The Nepal delegation presented details of investment prospects in Nepal, including its liberal foreign investment policies, special economic zones and ongoing business-friendly reforms.

Addressing the participants, Thapa emphasised that India-Nepal relations are built on shared history, culture and strong people-to-people connections. He noted that enhanced economic cooperation, particularly with Uttar Pradesh, could play a key role in promoting regional growth and prosperity.
