India's largest Software Tech Park, with focus on SMEs, to come up in Kolkata: Mamata

Kolkata, July 7 (KNN) West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, who is quite active on the social media sites, wrote on her Facebook page that India’s largest Software Technology Park (STPI) is coming up in Salt Lake in Kolkata with an investment of Rs 100 crore and a special focus on the small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
 
“India’s largest Software Technology Park (STPI) is coming up in Salt Lake with an investment of Rs100 crore generating an employment of 5,000 IT professionals, with a focus on SMEs,” she recently wrote.
 
She also informed that 15 IT Software Parks are coming up across the State, 8 of which are ready for ‘plug and play’. These include IT Parks in Purulia, Barjora, Bolpur, Kharagpur, Durgapur, Siliguri, Asansol and Rajarhat.
 
The remaining 7 Parks under implementation are at Kalyani, Howrah, Haldia, Malda, Krishnanagar, Bantala and Taratala. At least 20,000 jobs will be created in these IT Parks for the youth of the State, she said.
 
Wipro is in the process of expanding its Salt Lake facility by an additional 2,400 IT professionals. Similarly, Cognizant has a ready facility for 5,000 additional IT professionals; TCS is getting ready with its new campus which will employ 20,000 IT professionals, Banerjee wrote. (KNN Bureau)
