Srinagar, Nov 30 (KNN)  In an effort to upgrade the tourism sector, the Jammu and Kashmir government has proposed to renovate its historic monuments and scale up other tourist destinations in the state.

In this context, the Deputy Director Tourism is seeking partnership from different firms to recreate the famous Hari Parbat fort edifice under centrally sponsored schemes.
It will soon be appointing contractors to be service providers for initiating a sound and light show at the fort.

Hari Parbat is a hill situated on the outskirts of this city. The fort is situated on the banks of Dal Lake positioned on the top of Sharika Hill.

It has a Parvati temple on the western slope and Muslim shrines of Khwaja Makhdoom Sahib and Akhund Mullah Shah on the southern one.

Tourism formed an important part of the Kashmiri economy before militancy intensification two decades ago.  However with the decrease in violence in the state, it has rebounded in recent years. (KNN/ST)
