New Delhi, Feb 17 (KNN) As a part of mega selection drives being conducted under Industry Initiative (Udaan), the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and the Ministry of Home Affairs are undertaking a special recruitment drive in Kupwara of Jammu and Kashmir.

Over 10 corporates from various sectors including finance, tourism, human resource, construction, automation and information technology and IT enabled services across the country will be visiting the border district for a two-day recruitment drive on February 18 and 19, 2015 to scout fresh talent from the state.

The ministry has planned eight more such drives in the state in the next two months to cover the far flung areas including Samba, Sopore, Baramulla, Kathua, Reasi and Doda.

Around 2,400 candidates were selected and many more from the final year academic session were shortlisted for selection in Corporate India in three drives conducted in Srinagar, Jammu and Udhampur.

Udaan has two objectives - to provide exposure to the graduates and post graduates of Jammu and Kashmir to the best of corporate India and to provide corporate India with access to the rich talent pool available in the state.

The scheme is based on the recommendations of the Rangarajan Committee for setting up a progressive programme for training of the youth of the state by the corporates located in different states of the country and making these youth employable. (KNN/ST)
