Jammu MSMEs laud govt's initiatives to attract new investment

Jammu, Feb 18 (KNN) The Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Jammu region have lauded the initiatives of the government to attract new investment in the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir.

Bari Brahmana Industries Association held a meeting to discuss the proposed road shows to be held in six major cities of the country for the interaction with the potential investors as a part of the pre-event activities for the Global Investors Submit-2020.

The participating members appreciated the Initiative taken by the Industries Department for holding Road shows in the major cities of the country to attract the new investment in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.

''We are hopeful that massive investment in the industrial sector may take place in the coming months which will provide an opportunities of employment to local youths,” BBIA said.

Mahajan stated that BBIA is already receiving number of enquiries from the prospective investors from outside the state for the setting up their units in Jammu and Kashmir but they are waiting for the announcement of central/state government fiscal incentives and the state government industrial policy 2020 which is in the active consideration of the government.

''As per the several media reports, it has come to our notice that the much attention is being given to attract the investment from the big Industrial houses across the country which is a welcome step for rapid Industrialization in J&K but we are qof the opinion that attention should also be given to attract the Investment from the MSME sector  because the sector have the potential for providing mass scale employment to the local youths and also have the opportunities for the local youths to set up their own units with the less investments,'' BBIA added.

Further, the MSME body requested the Lt Governor to take up the matter with the central government for the finalisation of the central package of incentives as well as state fiscal incentives for the industrial sector of J&K and also to notify the state industrial policy 2020 as early as possible.
