Jammu MSMEs urge Gadkari for extension of NH1A flyover as 600+ trucks, heavy army vehicles create traffic mess

Jammu, Dec 13 (KNN) The MSME entrepreneurs based in the SIDCO Industrial Complex at Bari Brahmana, Jammu, have submitted a representation to Union Road, Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari for extension of NH 1A Flyover.

The Members of Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) held a discussion over the issues concerning the MSMEs with regards to the flyover and submitted a detailed representation to the Centre.

The industry wants extension of flyover of NH1A SIDCO Chowk Bari Brahmana up to Balol Bridge Purmandal Morh.

“SIDCO Industrial Complex, Bari Brahmana, is one of the largest and biggest industrial complex of the state having 500-600 Large, Medium, Small Scale Units employing around 35, 000 workers,” Ajay Langer, General Secretary, BBIA said.

He said, “There is a movement of more than 500 to 600 trucks per day leading to massive traffic jams at the elevated roads connecting upto the SIDCO Chowk from different locations. In addition to this,  there is also huge rush in the chowk due to movement of Army Vehicles in the area in respect  of Transit Camps & CSD Depot adjoining to the Industrial Complex.”

The NH1A flyover towards Jammu is connecting the SIDCO Chowk at tail end resulting disturbance in the smooth flow of traffic on regular basis, BBIA pointed adding this not only creates daily trouble for the entrepreneurs, workers but also for general public at large.

BBIA has urged J&K Industries Minister Chander Parkash to take up the matter with the concerned Ministry at the Centre for the extension of flyover from SIDCO Chowk Bari Brahmana to Balol Bridge Up to Purmandal Morh on National Highway with a connection from the road of industrial complex towards SIDCO Chowk Bari Brahmana.

The industry has also demanded providing an alternate link to army installations in and around of the Bari Brahmana Town which is the need of hour keeping in mind the security concerns due to ongoing unrest in the state.

The BBIA members have requested the Minister to take up the matter with the R&B Department to provide an alternate road link through Balol Khad to Purmandal Road to divert the traffic in the peak hours. (KNN Bureau)
