Jammu traders’ federation requests Guv to review process of procurement of construction material

Jammu, Apr 27 (KNN) The Chamber of Traders Federation (CTF) has requested the Governor of Jammu & Kashmir (J&K), Satya Pal Malik to review the current processes of procurement of key construction materials including Steel, Cement and Bitumen by the Government departments.

Speaking at a press conference here, President of CTF and National Vice President of CAIT, Neeraj Anand said “The stores procurement department (SPD), which was acting as a nodal agency for procurement and supplying material in executing important projects, ensured safety parameters, but its non-functioning has led to a compromise on the quality of the material.”

”We were receiving many inputs from respective Companies and Transport Associations about blockage of payments, business loss besides apparent change in policies to bypass all check and balances in procuring construction material by government departments,” said Anand.

Concerning the situation, the federation demanded a probe over the ‘compromise’ in the quality of construction material being procurement by government departments.
