Jamshedpur association files PIL in HC against centre’s ban on single use of plastic

Jamshedpur, June 4 (KNN) The Jamshedpur Single Use Plastic Manufacturers and Dealers Association has filed a public interest litigation (PIL) in the Jharkhand High Court last month to challenge the central government’s ban on single use of plastic all over India.

The petition could not be heard due to summer vacation and the association will decide the further course of action after court’s reopening.

As per the central government notification, the ban on single-use plastic will come into affect from July 1, 2022.

The Jamshedpur based association has called it impractical and said that the government has taken the decision unilateral and has anti-people sentiments.

In this regard, a meeting was held with the officials of Singhbhum Chamber and Commerce earlier this week.

President of the chamber Vijay Anand Moonka assured to provide all possible help to the manufacturers and dealers.

He laid out the strategy of further agitation against the notification of this center, in which the points and problems will be conveyed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Supreme Court and mass movement.   (KNN Bureau)
