Jharkhand industrialists unhappy with non-allotment of plots for industries

New Delhi, May 2 (KNN) Industrialists from Jharkhand have condemned the state government for its inaction over several issues which have rendered the growth of industries in the region.

On one hand industrial park at Bokaro is deprived of basic amenities like power and water and on the other hand only 10 of 40 entrepreneurs have managed to take possession of allotted plots in last 2 years.

While businessmen in Ranchi, are unhappy with the allotment of land that is unsuitable for the use.

On the ground-breaking ceremony in Deoghar where chief minister Raghubar Das is scheduled to lay the foundation of 151 small and medium industrial units involving investments to the tune of Rs 2,722 crore, industrialist rue the government's "lack of momentum" in tackling key issues.

The reference drawn from Momentum Jharkhand, the tagline for the 2017 Global Investors' Summit held in Ranchi to woo big-ticket investments.

Speaking at the occasion, Alok Kumar Mallick, the Secretary of Santhal Pargana Chamber of Commerce and Industries (SPCCI) said that they are happy that the government chose Deoghar for the fourth ground breaking ceremony as a part of Momentum Jharkhand.

But at the same time he highlighted the challenges and concern of the industrialist that they are facing from long.

Shedding light over the issues of industrialists in Jharkhand he said that registration of plots was a big problem in the state and also the government support is missing at the ground level in handling these issues.

Explaining the situation of industries in Jharkhand, President of Bokaro Chamber of Commerce and Industries Manoj Kumar Chowdhary said that nothing has improved since so many year as "Earlier, they were sick and now they are very sick.”

Only 40 units are barely surviving among the 500 unit of the industrial area run by BIADA (Bokaro Industrial Area Development Authority), he added.

Chowdhary said that the industrial area had roads, water, power and street lights but in reality none of this was there.

They had been demanding power and water at a concession for long but so far nothing had happened.

President of Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce (FJCCI) Rajeet Garodia summed up the primary concern as one of land and infrastructure.

He said that either the allotted land is not fit (for the intended project) or it is difficult to locate.

Investors can't find plots as they aren't demarcated properly," he said

In addition to this he said industries would not be able to function properly with inadequate supply of power.

On suggesting measures, he said that government should allocate land only when it is ready for use.

“I hope the government pays attention to our concerns rather than going on laying foundations or announcing new projects,” he added. (KNN/YV)
