Ranchi, May 30 (KNN) A move which will give boost to the small industries in the state, Jharkhand Government is planning to come out with a new procurement policy under which the MSE units will be able to sell their products directly to the state government.

The new policy is being drafted by the state industries department.

The procurement policy was proposed under Para 18 of the Jharkhand Industrial Policy (JIP) of 2012 and drafted earlier this year.

Under the policy, preferential treatment will be given to the local units by the various government departments, government-aided institutions and state enterprises.

According to the new procurement policy, government enterprises will procure 20 per cent of their annual purchases from the state MSEs.

As many as 31 products have been listed in the policy that the state will procure from MSEs only.  This includes agricultural equipment, transformers up to a maximum capacity of 200 KVA, fly-ash bricks, solar lanterns and more.

The policy also gives purchase privilege where local MSEs can sell their goods at rates up to 15 per cent higher than the market price.

The 2007 procurement policy guidelines were discontinued in August 2012. The new policy will soon be tabled before the cabinet. (KNN/SD)
