J&K Govt announces measures to facilitate EODB, Industry sceptical about implementation

New Delhi, May 17 (KNN) Jammu and Kashmir Government has announced a set of measures to ease the process of setting business In the state. The announcements include the elimination of cumbersome process of seeking NOC’s from different departments, simplifying it to one window clearance. However Industry Associations in the state are sceptical about its implementation.

Talking to KNN, Rahul Bansal, Senior Vice President of the Bari Brahmana industries Association (BBIA) said that so far no official notification has been issued by the government in this regard.

He also informed that similar discussions were held last year, but announcements were not implemented.

He said that in the last meeting along similar lines of facilitating ease of doing business in the state, the industries raised several concerns.

“The industry faces different complications, one of it being the toll issue around the Lakhenpur border. The manufacturing units in the area avail toll exemption for which they have to file and do the formalities every year, in our last meeting the government assured that from now on we will not have to go through the tedious procedures. It is almost an year since then, we are still waiting for an official notification”

Bansal further said that in the case of Jammu and Kashmir many a times the industries are assured steps and measures, but they just end up as press releases.

According to a media report, the Jammu and Kashmir Government recently announced that the businesses now will not have to obtain NOC’s from various departments; instead one-page declaration at the time of setting up of the unit will suffice.

Also, the govt. announced setting up of a dedicated branch of the J and K bank to help facilitate hassle free credit for the entrepreneurs. (KNN/ DA)
