J&K Khadi Board organizes workshop on KVIB schemes

New Delhi, Apr 28 (KNN) Aiming to create job for unemployed youth, Jammu and Kashmir Khadi and Village Industries Board has organized a workshop on schemes being implemented by KVIB.

Invited as a chief guest on the occasion, Vice Chairman Jammu and Kashmir KVIB, Peerzada Mansoor Hussain Sohrawardy said that the government has launched various schemes for the unemployed youth, especially backward classes with the objective to uplift their standard of living.

He said that J&K KVIB has emerged as the top board in India because of its dedication, hard work and teamwork.

Further, it provides a handholding support to rural unemployed youth through PMEGP, SFRUTI and SC/ST Hub, he added.

Commenting over the limitations KVIB had earlier, she said that with regard to implementation of PMEGP, KVIB had certain weaknesses and limitations but to overcome that the board has come up with a new scheme called Chief Minister Employment Generation Program.

Also, he directed the officers to encourage and support unemployed youth to avail the benefits of these schemes and become a job provider instead of job seeker.

On giving presentation about newly formed National Scheduled Caste Scheduled Tribe Hub Scheme, CEO/Secretary Rashid Ahmed Qadri said that it is an initiative of the Government of India to develop a supportive ecosystem to encourage SC-ST MSMEs.

Highlighting the Public Procurement Policy for MSMEs of 2012, he said that the Union Ministry concerned departments and public sector undertakings shall procure minimum 20% of their total annual value of goods and services from MSMEs.

Also, 4% of total procurement of goods and services shall be made from Micro and Small Enterprises owned by SC & ST entrepreneurs.

Currently, due to low participation of the SC-ST enterprises, government procurement from SC-ST enterprises is less than 1%.

In addition, KVIB has been directed to organize Vendor Development Programs in various districts of the State.
