J&K to have textile park in HMT land

Srinagar, Jul 25 (KNN) Jammu and Kashmir will soon have a textile park on a portion of HMT Factory land here which has stopped functioning for a long time now.

The state Industries Department has been directed to work out a strategy on fast track so that action on the proposed project for the local entrepreneurs is taken up as early as possible, media reports said.

Further, in two separate meetings with Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industries and Federation Chamber of Industries, Kashmir, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah assured the representatives of industries, handicrafts, trade and commerce of the full support of his government to nurture these sectors as also the welfare of the people associated with industrial sector.

Other topics that figured during the discussions were issues pertaining to rehabilitation of potentially viable sick units by way of soft loan and exit policy, waiver of interest on electricity dues of MSME sector, settlement of loans with State Financial Corporation under OTS Scheme and marketing support to local issues.

The industry bodies also discussed matters relating to issuance of licence to unit holders, dedicated power supply, negative list industries, payment of small scale industry sector and pashmina raw material.

Abdullah has also directed cancellation of the allotment of land to Steel Authority of India at Lassipora and allot it to the budding entrepreneurs of the state for launch of MSME units.

He said his government is keenly pursuing the policy of industrialization in the state with focus on nurturing local entrepreneurs and generating employment for the youth. (KNN Bureau)
