Kanpur administration warns employers of stringent actions if they fail to pay their workers during lockdown

Kanpur, Apr 7 (KNN) Kanpur administration has warned employers of stringent actions if they fail to pay their employees during lockdown due to spread of Coronavirus.

"...all labour enforcement officers are directed that cases where the establishments who have not paid the salary for the period of temporary lockdown to their workers till 07/04/2020 should be brought to the notice of the undersigned by the evening of 07/04/2020 and after obtaining permission of the undersigned, punitive actions should be taken against the employers,'' said SP Shukla, Additional Labour Commissioner, Kanpur Region.

''Owners of commercial establishments, factories, Service planners which are temporarily closed as a result of the COVID-19 epidemic by the orders of the state government have been directed to pay of their workers," read the letter issued earlier by the administration.

''All labour enforcement officers are directed to ensure that all labour enforcement officers in their respective areas ensure that the salary payment of the period of temporary closure (lockdown) to all the workers by the owners of all the establishments located in their areas have been done," it said.

If payment has not been made by any owner / employer by April 7, ensure registration of FIR in the police station under epidemic act 4879 by 07/04/2012 till 05 pm against such employer,'' it added. (KNN Bureau)
