Karnataka Govt invites Japanese companies to participate in Global Investor Meet

Bengaluru, Aug 9 (KNN) A delegation led by Karnataka industries minister Murugesh Nirani is visiting Japan to woo high-profile foreign investors for the global investors meet (GIM) to be held in Bengaluru from November 2- 4.

On Monday, Nirani and industries commissioner Gunjan Krishna met with the representatives of Toyota, Mercari, Suzuki Motor Corporation, and Jetro (Japanese External Trade Organisation) signifying the government’s first stop being Japan.

The roadshow saw minister Nirani having meetings with most of the companies showcasing Karnataka as an ideal investment destination for the manufacturing companies. During the course of his meetings, Nirani urged the Japanese manufacturing industries to come to Karnataka where the industries department has created a proposal for a separate Japanese township in Tumakuru.

"Barring the Japanese township, major automobile companies like Toyota have already got a running plant and we have a land bank of 50,000 acres for industrial development," Nirani informed Suzuki Motor Corporation representatives including the general manager for India Automobile Kenji Saito.

The state government is expecting an investment of Rs 5 lakh crore in terms of MoUs at the event and hoping to generate employment opportunities for 5 lakh people through these investments.

As per reports, the Global investors meet is expected to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the presence of various other state representatives and that global players in various sectors.

The state delegation is scheduled for another set of meetings on Tuesday with Hitachi, Fujitsu and NEC Corporation.  (KNN Bureau)
