Karnataka MSMEs burdened with double taxation; Industry Minister assures resolution

Bengaluru, Feb 5 (KNN) The local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) having units in Nanjangud, Mysuru district of Karnataka are facing the brunt of double taxation on property and still continue to have no proper service and poor civic amenities in the industrial layouts.

This issue was raised in a stakeholders' meeting with the Industry Minister, Murugesh Nirani on Friday. 

Absence of industrial waste recycling plant in Mysuru was also brought to the notice of the minister.

A.S.Satish, President of Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) pointed out this issue and said, Industries are paying taxes in lakhs to local bodies and we can clearly see that it is impacting the SSI units drastically.

The stakeholders and industrial bodies emphasised on creating a single window agency to help resolve issues pertaining to industrial areas.

The Minister also noted that large area of lands given at subsidised rate are not being utilised, hence they we will be recovered by the government and new investors will be allotted.

Members of MSME Council, Mysuru Industrial Estate Manufacturers Association, and Kadakola Industrial Association were present in the meeting. (KNN Bureau)
