Karnataka tax commissioner assures industry to address the grievances on TDS

Vijayanagar, Sept 29 (KNN) Karnataka Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (TDS), Sanjai Kumar Verma has assured the state industry body Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (KASSIA) that the department would address the grievances that industry has with regards to tax deducted at source (TDS) and other matters.

Addressing the seminar on income tax TDS held on Monday, Verma outlined the process of TDS and said the timely filing of returns by the deductors was important from the point of view of the nation’s development.

On the occasion, Vice President, KASSIA, A Padmanabha highlighted various issues faced by members regarding TDS and the filing of returns. He urged the department to consider accepting returns once a year instead of the present practice of quarterly payment.

KASSIA Central Excise and Income Tax, Panel Chairman, R Raju presented a brief memorandum highlighting the problems faced by industries in filing TDS returns.

Joint Commissioner of Income Tax (TDS), Sowmya Achar delivered the Key Note Address and a detailed presentation on TDS was made by IT Officer, S Gururaj.

Members present in the seminar participated in the interaction and their doubts were clarified by the officers present.

The seminar was attended by the Office Bearers of KASSIA and many members. (KNN Bureau)
