Udupi, July 31 (KNN) The Karnataka government would soon set up a government tool room training centre in Udupi and will give training in manufacturing tools and other components needed for the industry, Joint Director of Karnataka Commerce and Industries, Ramananda Nayak has said.

He was addressing the Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme to encourage the students to take entrepreneurship as a career. The programme was organised by the Platform of Women Entrepreneurship (POWER) at the School of Management (SOM) in Manipal.

Nayak said the centre would help manufacturers deal with issues of quality training, accreditations, and certification. Such tool rooms had been set up in other districts as well, he added.

An amount of Rs 5 crore had been spent for the building, machinery and computer lab at the centre. Skill development programmes were provided for young entrepreneurs at the vocational centre, he said.

The State Industrial Policy 2014-19 introduced entrepreneurship development programmes exclusively for prospective first generation women entrepreneurs where interest free start up loan with flexible payback schemes and continuous guidance will be provided upon successful completion of state entrepreneurship development courses.

It will also provide standard package to safeguard and uplift entrepreneurs from other social sections through reservation and facilitation in key government programmes and initiatives. (KNN Bureau)
