CM Bommai extends Nekar Samman scheme to power loom labour
Bengaluru, Jan 12 (KNN) The Karnataka government has decided to extend the Nekar Samnan scheme to the labourers working in power looms and to implement them to 1.02 lakh power loom weavers and workers.
Presiding the meeting, Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai ordered the state officials to set up mini textile parks in 25 taluks of Karnataka.
With this the state government intends to resolve the problems of the weavers of the state.
Under this scheme financial assistance of Rs 5,000 is remitted to the bank accounts of 1.02 lakh powerloom weavers and workers under direct benefit transfer.
Welcoming the move, K.N. Narasimha Murthy, President, Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (KASSIA) said government has announced several schemes and incentives to address the problems of weavers.
“We requested them to take appropriate steps to organize awareness/awareness programs to deliver them directly to the weavers who are the beneficiaries,” said Murthy.
The mini textile parks in 25 taluks will come up where weavers have a large number of facilities, from cotton processing, to garment and ready-made garment manufacturing. (KNN Bureau)
