FKCCI urges Karnataka govt to reduce power tariff hike for SMEs from 9% to 3%

Bengaluru, June 24 (KNN) Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) in a meeting with chief minister Siddaramaiah appealed for the reduction in the power tariff hike for small and medium industries from 9 per cent to 3 per cent.

The FKCCI delegation led by BV Gopal Reddy also requested to the CM to provide concession on Fuel Escalation Charges (FEC) and suggested that a policy for the Medium, Small and Micro Enterprises (MSME), as has been formulated in some other states, be drawn up in Karnataka.

In the meeting, CM Siddaramaiah denied the allegations of any relation between the tariff hike and the state government’s ‘Gruha Jyoti’ scheme.

“It is wrong to think that the burden of Gruha Jyoti Yojana has been put on others,” Siddaramaiah told the FKCCI delegation.

The CM in the meeting clarified that the hike was not done by his government but the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC), and added that the decision on tariff increase was taken by the KERC even before his party came to power.

The Karnataka CM on Friday also met with the Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (KASSIA) delegation.  (KNN Bureau)
