Hubballi, June 12 (KNN) Industrial units in the Hubballi district of Karnataka have decided to pay 75 per cent of the electricity bill in June as sign of protest against the hike in tariff by Hubballi Electricity Supply Company Limited (HESCOM).

Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) held a meeting last week to discuss action plan to oppose the unreasonable increase in electricity charges by HESCOM.

Other industries and trade associations were present in the meeting who contributed and agreed to the action plan.

As a first step, the industries will pay 75 per cent of the electricity bill as per the revised tariff.

KICCI will prepare a memorandum for the Chairman of HESCOM, DC and other elected officials urging them to review the hike in tariff.

The industries have agreed to wait for 7 days after submitting their request for officials to take action on the matter.

“If no action is taken by the officials, we shall take strong measures to protest. This may include calling a ‘bandh’ of all industries and businesses,” as per the action plan.

They will also resort to legal action and approach the court for justice.  (KNN Bureau)
