Kalyana Karnataka region pins hope on state budget for mega textile, IT parks

Kalaburagi, Feb 16 (KNN) The Kalyana Karnataka region is expecting the state budget to announce fund allocation for its much-awaited projects like Mega Textile Park, Bidar-Ballari NH, IT-BT Park in Kalaburagi, Tur Dal Park, and for tourism development.

In the last two years about half dozen memoranda have been submitted by Muttanna Nadageri, founder president of the Kalyana Naadu Vikas Vedike seeking funds for various projects and development work in the region.

Activists and organisations wish that their memoranda will be considered in the budget.

“Our region has faced step-motherly treatment for years. Governments consider only Hubballi-Dharwad whenever they speak about North Karnataka,” he said.

Demanding Kalaburagi to be declared as the second capital of the state, Nadageri said, “If the government continues to neglect the region in this budget too, then the demand for statehood will get stronger.”

Umakant Nigudgi, the former president of the Kalyana Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that there is a need for a separate industry policy for the KK region on the lines of the Marathawada region industry policy in Maharashtra.  (KNN Bureau)
