Karnataka Government Pushes for MSME Growth and Manufacturing 4.0 in Mysuru

Mysuru, Jul 19 (KNN) In a significant move to bolster industrial development, the Karnataka government is actively promoting Mysuru as a hub for electronics manufacturing and MSME growth.

This was revealed by Gunjan Krishna, Commissioner for Industrial Development, during her address at Integrate '24, an event organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Thursday.

Krishna highlighted the government's ambitious plans for expanding the electronics manufacturing cluster near Nanjangud, emphasising Mysuru's potential as a tier-2 city primed for takeoff.

She cited notable success stories from the region, including Skanray's contribution to ICU ventilator technology during the COVID-19 pandemic and AT&S's rare capability in printed circuit board manufacturing.

The commissioner stressed the crucial role of MSMEs in India's economic growth, particularly in light of the global "China +1" strategy. To capitalise on this opportunity, Krishna emphasised the need for improved productivity through technological advancement.

The state government is actively encouraging the adoption of Manufacturing 4.0 principles among MSMEs, promoting digitisation and advanced manufacturing processes to enhance competitiveness.

"It is not the big companies alone that need to switch to Manufacturing 4.0 but even MSMEs to seize the opportunity for growth and development," Krishna stated, underlining the importance of technological adaptation across all scales of industry.

The government is offering various schemes to support MSMEs and promote vendor development. Krishna also touched upon the future trajectory of industrial growth, which she believes will be driven by technology, environmental sustainability, and inclusivity.

N. Venu, Chairman of CII Karnataka State Council, echoed these sentiments, describing the MSME sector as the backbone of India's economy. He emphasised the need for digital technology adoption and productivity enhancement to achieve global competitiveness.

The event, which included an exhibition showcasing MSME products, aimed to bridge the gap between large and medium sectors and the capabilities of MSMEs.
