Karnataka govt approves Rs 8,000 cr worth Foxconn mobile manufacturing unit proposal

Bengaluru, Mar 21 (KNN) The Karnataka government on Monday assented the Rs 8,000 crore investment proposal of Foxconn to set up a mobile manufacturing unit on the outskirts of Bengaluru.
In its state high level clearance committee (SHLCC) the state government cleared the big ticket investment of the Taiwanese giant.
At a meeting which saw an investment proposal clearance of Rs 75,393.5 crore that includes 10 new investment proposals saw the Foxconn project getting the green signal from the state government to set up their unit that will span across the Dodballapura and Devanahalli taluks of Bengaluru rural district.
The project details shared by the state government suggests that Foxconn Hon Hai Technology India Mega Development private limited (FHH), registered in Tamil Nadu, will provide employment for 50,000 people.
Earlier this month it was suggested that iPhones will be manufactured in Karnataka but the iPhone maker had issued a statement that no definite agreement was signed between the company and any Indian state.
Apart from Foxconn, the SHLCC on Monday also cleared new projects of Ather Energy private limited for manufacturing electric two wheelers, Tata Advanced Systems Limited for aircraft modification, conversion completion, indigenous gun manufacturing including barrel manufacturing, development projects in aerospace and defence sectors.
