Month-long Khadi Utsav to be held in Bengaluru till Feb 26

Bengaluru, Jan 27 (KNN) Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Thursday inaugurated the ‘Khadi Utsav-2023’ in Bengaluru.

The month long exhibition-sale of khadi attire and village industry products has been organised by the Karnataka State Khadi and Village Industries Board. It will go on till February 26.

Speaking on the occasion, the Karnataka chief minister said that after agriculture, textile sector employees the maximum number of people in India, especially rural areas, and hence more efforts are being put in to create more jobs and business opportunities in the khadi industry.

Bommai said that the upcoming state budget will give more emphasis and financial assistance to khadi and village industries. 

“Those working in the khadi and handloom sector are technologically challenged and hence, steps will be taken to educate them on how to imbibe technology in the production and retail stage as well,” he said.

He pointed out that the khadi manufacturers should make use of the growing digital market.

The Khadi fair will display diverse kind of khadi clothes, bags, earthen products, artworks, food made by village industries and various nature-friendly home essentials.

The chief minister also urged the concerned authorities to take appropriate steps in educating people to sell their products on e-commerce platforms like Amazon and Flipkart.

As per reports, the state government has decided to enhance the financial strength of the Khadi Gramodyog Institute.

The government is also taking steps to empower women in the production sector by providing them incentives of up to Rs 5 lakh.

The fair is open from 10 am to 9 pm at Tripura Vasini, Palace Grounds.  (KNN Bureau)
