KASSIA recommends state govt to offer MSMEs with incentives

Bangalore, Oct 13 (KNN) Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (KASSIA) is in support of the Chief Minister’s announcement to offer incentives to industries that provide large employment but suggested that the micro and small scale industries should also be reckoned for the purpose of identifying the industries eligible for the incentives.

Though the number of jobs provided in the MSME sector per unit may be relatively less, taken as a whole, they are the largest provider of employment and next only to the farm sector, pointed out the association.

The proposal to have an exclusive R&D policy to promote research & development across all sectors would also meet a critical need of micro and small scale industries who are unable to invest in R&D due to funds crunch, KASSIA observed.

The Industry Adalat held by the government also helped to resolve the disputes of many entrepreneurs, it acknowledged and added that on its part, it was giving wide publicity to this initiative, which it hoped would yield similar dividends in the forthcoming Industry Adalats to be held at the district level.

Expressing their views on government acknowledging the need for a better synergy between academia and industry for conducive growth of industries and the job market, KASSIA said it was well placed and willing to play a lead role in bridging the gap between industry requirement and academic curriculum, and requested the government to provide necessary funds support for taking this initiative forward with the concerned authorities.
