KASSIA urges Centre to set up task force to address issues faced by MSMEs

Bangalore, Jan 9 (KNN) The Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (KASSIA) has urged the Government to set up the task force at the highest level to address the issues faced by MSMEs.

The Southern MSME Associations Summit-2017 was organized recently in the city by KASSIA.

The leading MSME Associations of Southern India from Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Goa among others participated in the Summit.

While addressing the Summit, A Padmanabha, President, KASSIA spoke on the various issues related to areas like finance, infrastructure, regulatory requirements, labor legislations, skill development, CGTMSE, CLCSS etc., and emphasized on the need for better execution and implementation of the schemes already available.

Padmanabha highlighted the urgent need for constituting a task force on MSMEs at the level of the Prime Minister Office (PMO) to address various issues concerning the sector.

He urged that the Government must set up task force at the highest level so that the MSMEs get attention that they deserve.

The Summit was inaugurated by B.H.Anil Kumar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of MSME.

He said the Summit showed that MSMEs are now taking the more organized route for presenting their problems to the Government as against the informal approach followed earlier.

He suggested that KASSIA take a lead role for organizing a similar summit at the national level involving all the States of India as that would be truly rewarding for MSMEs and everyone, including the Government.

S.S.Pattanshetti, Secretary to the Government, C & I, (MSME & Mines) Government of Karnataka, said that Karnataka Government would address the issues that were raised in the Summit so that the MSMEs were able to function smoothly.

Summit of this magnitude was organized in Southern India to help focus on the real issues impacting MSMEs in the region, said Ravindra Nath, Chairman & Managing Director, NSIC.

Another highlight of the programme was the launch of MSME Handbook in the regional language-Kannada which is first of its kind in the country and a laudable Kassia initiative.

KASSIA Office Bearers, representatives of various Southern Associations and Affiliated Associations of KASSIA were present at the Summit. (KNN Bureau)
