Bengaluru, Aug 25 (KNN)  Karnataka Government’s proposal to set up micro rural industrial hubs in village panchayats close to cities using funds from MGNREGA is a step in the right direction, said Karnataka Small Scale Industries  Association (KASSIA).

Welcoming the initiative by Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister H K Patil to improve rural infrastructure, president, KASSIA Chidananda M Rajamane, in a press release said that this should be taken up in mission mode to ensure timely implementation so as to reap the intended benefits.

“The Government should take up rural infrastructure works by consulting with Mofussil level industry associations and engaging them in monitoring the progress,” he said, adding that if necessary, KASSIA is willing to partner with the state government to play a collaborative role and speed up the implementation.

Karnataka will be receiving Rs 3,151 crore from the Centre under MGNREGA scheme for 2014-15 and as per directions of the Union Ministry of Rural Development.  These should be spent on creating infrastructure facilities related to agriculture, KASSIA said.  (KNN Bureau)
