Kerala to skill 1975 candidates for Textiles industry under SAMARTH

Kannur, June 9 (KNN) The Kerala government will be providing no-cost training to 1,975 candidates in textile industry under the SAMARTH scheme initiated by the Union Ministry of Textiles.

The scheme is a flagship skill development scheme which aims to provide demand-driven, placement oriented skilling programme to incentivize the efforts of the industry in creating jobs in the organised textile and related sectors.

Interested candidates in the state must apply by June 30 and the training programme for the first batch will commence in July. There is no application fee for the training programme.

The training would be managed and monitored by the Indian Institute of Handloom Technology (IITH) in Kannur, Kerala.

The centre in Kannur would provide training in 11 trades such as Handloom weaver, hand-block printing, dobby hand loom weaver, jakkard handloom weaver etc.

The application should be prepared on white paper where the name, age and educational qualification of the applicant must be mentioned.

It should then be sent to The Executive Director of the Kannur centre or could also be emailed to knriiht@gmail.com.  (KNN Bureau)
