Kerala to strengthen tourism industry

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 1 (KNN)  The Kerala Tourism Department proposes a long term plan to promote sustainable tourism, focusing on conservation of heritage and culture.

The state government has established a project “Sustainable Tourism Development Master Plan for Kalady-Malayatoor-Athirappally Circuit”.

In this regard, the government is seeking partnership from different corporates to carry out consultancy service on the project and a consultant will be appointed soon.

The focus of the state tourism department is to strengthen the sector to serve as the growth vehicle for the state’s socio economic development.

Kerala which is tagged as “God’s Own Country” in its promotions is regarded as one of the most visited tourist destinations in the country. Growing at a rate of 13.31 per cent, the tourism industry is a major contributor to the state’s economy.  (KNN/ST)
