Geographical Indication conclave to be held in Kerala on Jan 11

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 11 (KNN) The Kerala department of Industries and Commerce is organising a one-day conclave on Geographical Indication (GI) in Thiruvananthapuram on January 11.

The Primary aim of this conclave is to encourage products having GI Tags and to enhance their brand-value, business and marketing techniques.

Kerala Industries Minister P. Rajeeve will inaugurate the GI conclave and launch the GI products website. The website will provide access to all GI products of the state on a common platform.

Principal Secretary Suman Billa will deliver the keynote address at the inaugural ceremony.

An expo of GI products of Kerala and a technical session will also be held as part of the event.

Geographical indication (GI) is a sign used on products that have a specific geographical origin and possess qualities or a reputation that are due to that origin. In order to function as a GI, a sign must identify a product as originating in a given place.  (KNN Bureau)
