Kerala Eases Regulations Including Labour & Environment To Attract Investments

New Delhi, Jun 23 (KNN) The Kerala government has approved amendments to 31 regulatory provisions across multiple departments to enhance the state's investment environment, following a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

The decision aims to facilitate the implementation of investment proposals received during the Invest Kerala Global Summit.

The amendments will affect regulations under various departments including local self-government institutions, revenue, power, environment, labour, agriculture, and higher education, according to an official statement.

The meeting also addressed the establishment of a dedicated task force under the local self-government department to accelerate proposal implementation.

Key changes include relaxations to road width requirements outlined in the Kerala Building Rules 2019, along with an increase in the maximum permissible area for commercial buildings in category-II panchayats.

The government will also modify documentation requirements for building permits on leased properties.

The administration plans to revise guidelines for regularising constructions under the Kerala MSME Facilitation Act 2019.

Additionally, parking regulations for tourism and hospitality establishments, including resorts and hotels, will be updated through changes to building area assessment criteria.

The meeting prioritised expediting the unique thandaper initiative, which involves standardised title deeds to ensure transparent land utilisation.

Applications for land conversion related to Invest Kerala Global Summit proposals will receive priority processing. A circular will be issued to clarify the authority of agricultural officers regarding land category modifications.
