Kerala govt aims to turn 1,000 MSMEs into ventures with Rs 100 cr turnover in 4 years

Kochi, Apr 11 (KNN) On Monday, Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister of Kerala launched the ‘Mission 1000’ with an objective to select 1,000 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) and turn them into ventures with Rs 100 crore turnover in four years.

The initiative was inaugurated in Kochi and is a continuation of the ‘Year of Enterprises’ programme launched by the industries department in the last financial year.

Under the MSME scale-up mission – Mission 1000 — the enterprises, which meet basic criteria set by the department, will get government support. The enterprises should be at least three years old.

Speaking about the initiative, the CM said the government intends to ensure the success of the enterprises and its sustainability.

“Industries which focus on advanced technologies will get the government’s priority,” he added.

“We will ensure growth of industries in 22 priority sectors, which are suitable for the state. A resilient ecosystem for enterprises will be created. Aerospace and defence, robotics, artificial intelligence, biotechnology and life science, electric vehicles, information technology, medical equipment and pharmaceuticals will get priority in the industrial policy,” he said.

The CM assured that startup-friendly atmosphere will be created to encourage enterprises by youngsters.

“As part of this, projects are conducted in 425 colleges and it will be expanded to other colleges too,” he added.  (KNN Bureau)
