Labour Minister of Punjab raids ESI hospital Mohali over poor condition, lack of basic amenities

New Delhi, Aug 9 (KNN) Labour Minister of Punjab, Balbir Singh Sidhu made a surprise visit to the Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) hospital Mohali and uncovered the pathetic condition of the hospital.

The hospital which has been in negative light from long for poor facilities and rampant corruption has finally come under the scrutiny of the labor minister of Punjab, said Jasbir Singh from Mohali Industries Association.

After making several requests from past so many years to the concerned authority, government of Punjab stepped in to look into this matter, he added.

During his visit, Minister witnessed the poor working condition of the hospital which has been made for providing medical services for two lakh insured workers in Mohali.

Viewing the worse condition of the working of hospital and its infrastructure, Labor Minister assured the Mohali Industries Association (MIA) that it will take the matter with ESIC authorities and solve the issues of poor insured workers.

The insured Workers and their employers are contributing nearly Rs.10 crore per month to the esic for
their medical needs. Despite of this, ESI was failed to provide the basic medical services to them for which they are entitled to, highlighted Singh who is an advocate by profession.

Recently, the fine of Rs 1,60,000 has also been slapped on ESIC Mohali for eight consumer complaints filed by workers with industries in MIA over excessive delays in reimbursement of medical bills.
