Lack of awareness impedes Startup growth in J&K

Jammu, Aug 8 (KNN) There is a great level of potential in Jammu Kashmir (J&K) to explore its startup scope but there needs to be awareness about programmes and schemes, said Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State in PMO with Independent Charge of Science & Technology.

He was speaking at a launch on Sunday of Dogri language version of national Science monthly magazine published by the Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India.

The Kashmiri language version of the same magazine will also be launched soon.

The Minister emphasised on creating awareness about startup programmes among youth of the UT especially in the field of Space Technology.

Giving examples of Gujarat and Karnataka, the Minister said that youth from these states have taken full advantage of startups programmes.

“Though in J&K we too have a lot of potential and our youth are in no way incapable to compete but unfortunately we lack the awareness to the required level so that our youth instead of hankering for Government jobs can take the advantage of startups,” he added.

He also encouraged a change of mindset and asked the youth to come forward and take the advantage of the government schemes.  (KNN Bureau)
