Lucknow, June 16 (KNN) Uttar Pradesh government will be building a Logistic Park alongside the Agra-Lucknow expressway in the state, a move which would reduce the pressure on the small entrepreneurs to cut down the logistic cost.

The logistic park to be set up in the area of around 150-200 hectares will be the country’s biggest such park.

The park would be set up in the areas near the Bhadan railway station in Firozabad. According to an UP government official spokesperson, the Agra-Lucknow expressway would be connected to the dedicated freight corridor (Delhi-Howrah). He said expressway would cross this railway line at the Bhadan railway station in Ferozabad district. Also, the expressway is just 6 kilometres from the NH 2 Highway.

“This way, the location selected to set up the logistic park is very appropriate,” he said.

The logistic park will benefit both the farmers as well as the industrialists in the state, he mentioned.

The spokesperson said the Agra-Lucknow expressway will cross 10 important districts in the state which on one side included important industrial destinations like Lucknow, Unnao, Kanpur, Kannauj, Firozabad, while on the other side includes important agricultural places like Itawah, Manpuri and Auraiya.

With the establishment of Logistic Park, the products – industrial as well as agricultural, can be transported to distant places easily at a competitive rate, he said.

The spokesperson mentioned that the entire process of handling a product from the point of origin or manufacture to the  end point, that is the consumer, is called logistics which include information management, transport, warehousing, sourcing, packing etc. Keeping this in view, the area around the Bhadan railway  station of Firozabad city which is already connected to a wide transport network, has been found to be suitable  for establishing the Logistics Park.

The spokesperson informed that the foreign countries have already established Logistics Park in a large scale, but in India, work on this concept began just 10 years before. He said currently states like Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Hariyana and more are working in this line but it is first of a kind in UP.

According to a survey, logistics cost in India is very high. It is said to be in the vicinity of 20-21 per cent of the product cost. Whereas in the developed economies, the logistics cost on the total product cost is in the vicinity of 4-6 per cent. (KNN Bureau)
