Lucknow, April 5 (KNN) Travel time between Agra and Lucknow will be reduced to three-four hours after an access controlled Expressway is built between the two historic cities.

The Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) has invited expression of interest-cum-request for proposal for the expressway which will come up in the public-private –partnership on the lines of the Yamuna Expressway.

The expressway will be designed for the speed limit of 120 km/hr for the cars.

The project worth Rs 9155 crores (excluding cost of land) will boost the economic development of commercial as well as agricultural hubs of Firozabad, Shikohabad, Manipuri, Etawah, Kannauj and Malihabad. according to state government officials.

The project will also be developing water bodies and eco parks on both sides of the expressway. The green belt has been incorporated in the project as it will be ecologically and environmentally beneficial and would also recharge the water level in the region.

The UPEID project would incorporate the provision for development of mandis, warehousing facilities, medical facilities (for emergency as well as for local population), educational facilities, fuel refilling stations and other way side amenities along the expressway at suitable locations.

The Agra to Lucknow expressway project will have multiple benefits. It will facilitate construction of all-weather high-speed roads and will decongest the increasing traffic on the existing network of roads, the officials said.

Further, the project will generate employment opportunities for the local and boost tourism in the state.

The travelling time between Delhi and Lucknow will also be reduced to five – six hours though the two expressways. (KNN)
