M Pradesh to review bio-diversity rules

Bhopal, Jun 10 (KNN)  Taking into consideration the case of the industries with regard to the Madhya Pradesh Bio Diversity Rules, 2004 and the various anomalies of the Act, the Commissioner of Agriculture Production has decided not the implement the rules before a review is made of the same.
 
In fact, the Agriculture Production Commissioner has directed Member Secretary, Madhya Pradesh State Bio-diversity Board not to issue notices in future, said Secretary, Federation of Madhya Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FMPCCI), Virendra Kumar Beohar.
 
FMPCCI had organised a meeting yesterday with the Commissioner, Agriculture Production, Government of Madhya Pradesh regarding access and benefit sharing under the Biodiversity Act 2002, Rules 2004 and Madhya Pradesh Bio Diversity Rules, 2004, Beohar said.
 
Among industry bodies who attended the meeting were representatives of textile association, Confederation of Indian industry, Chief Coordinator-FMPCCI and Secretary, FMPCCI.
 
During the meeting, FMPCCI strongly pleaded the case of Industries before the chairperson of the meeting and brought to notice the various anomalies of the Act and Rules, inadequacy of guidelines and requested him not to press for implementation of the Act until matters were clarified.  
 
Accepting the arguments the chairperson agreed to not to give stress to the implementation of the Act and refer the anomalies of Act and Rules before the Government of India.  (KNN/ES)
