Madhya Pradesh govt plans to set up cluster for food & cotton sector in Khargone

Indore, Apr 6 (KNN) The Madhya Pradesh government is planning to set up a cluster for the food items manufacturers and cotton units in Khargone district, reported TOI.

As per reports, the District Industries and Trade Centre (DITC) has identified around 14 hectare in Khargone for developing clusters for small and medium size industries.

Khargone DITC general manager Atmaram Soni said, “We have seen land and have initiated the process for transfer. This area is a hub for cotton and food sector industries and players are looking for new industrial areas to set up plants.”

Soni said the department is in talk with some industry players and associations looking to put up factories in Khargone district to manufacture food related items.

“On completing official formalities, we plan to develop small plots for bakery, toasts and other food items manufacturers in the cluster. Another cluster planned at the new land will be for cotton ginning units,” he said.

As per reports, DITC plans to develop industrial areas in Khargone district for food and cotton sector. Khargone district already has six government industrial belts including, Nimrani, Khargone, Bikangaon and Badwah.

The ministry of micro, small and medium enterprises is also developing a food park on around 9 hectare in Sanawad, the cluster is expected to have close to 70 industrial plots for SMEs.

The estimated cost of development of food cluster at Sanawad is around Rs 10 crore. Industry associations and local industries have urged MSME department to develop industrial land for micro and small industries.  (KNN Bureau)
