Madhya Pradesh To Link SHGs With MSMEs For Sustainable Livelihoods

Bhopal, Aug 6 (KNN) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has directed officials to link well-performing Self-Help Groups (SHGs) with micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and small-scale industries to create sustainable livelihood opportunities for rural households.

Chairing a review meeting of rural development schemes at the Mantralaya on Wednesday, Yadav said stronger market linkages should be created for SHGs to help women and rural families diversify income sources beyond traditional activities.

"Well-performing SHGs should be linked with MSMEs and small industries so that women and rural families get sustainable livelihood opportunities. We need to create stronger market linkages for these groups," he said.

Rural Development Schemes Reviewed

The meeting reviewed the progress of the Chief Minister Vrindavan Gram Yojana, Madhya Pradesh Rural Road Development Authority projects, VBG Ram Ji Yojana, State Rural Ajeevika Mission, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) and other government schemes.

The Chief Minister also directed officials to promote Gau Samitis and prepare an action plan for the development and improved management of urban and large gram panchayats.

Over 16 Lakh Rural Houses Sanctioned Since Dec 2023

Officials informed the meeting that more than 16.20 lakh houses have been sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) since December 2023, with an approved outlay of Rs 19,440 crore. Of these, 8.19 lakh houses have been completed.

Under the PM Janman Awas Yojana, 1.89 lakh houses have been sanctioned during the same period, of which 1.48 lakh have been completed.
