Madras HC gives TNERC nod to issue order on tariff petition

Chennai, Sept 3 (KNN) Madras High Court has given green signal to Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC) to issue an order on the power tariff petition.

Hence the commission would soon issue an order, said the Electricity minister V Senthil Balaji on Friday.

He was addressing reporters after a monsoon-preparedness meeting at Tangedco head office in Chennai.

Though the appointment of a legal member to TNERC was not necessary, it was underway nonetheless, he said, adding that tariff revision was essential for Tangedco’s development. 

He said that demands of MSMEs would be addressed which is to reduce fixed charges.

Balaji has also ordered Tangedco officials to ensure an uninterrupted power supply during monsoon.  (KNN Bureau)
