Maharashtra Govt-Tata Trust sign pact to set up Bamboo Research & Training Centre; MSMEs to benefit

Mumbai, Jan 6 (KNN) Maharashtra Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tata Trust for setting up a Bamboo Research and Training Centre at Chichpalli which would extend help in form of skills and resources to MSMEs.

The pact was signed in the presence of eminent industrialist Ratan Tata and Minister of Finance & Planning, Forest Sudhir Mungantiwar.

While addressing at the event, Rata Tata said the Tata Trust was committed to extend whole-hearted support for development of Chandrapur district.

Forest Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar said the name Tata represented trust and quality. Tatas always believed in "charity with dignity", he said, informing that Tata Trust had donated Rs five crore to Bamboo Centre, apart from Rs three crore for development of poultry industry in Pombhurna and Jiwati tehsils of the district.

The Bamboo project would turn local youths into job-creators instead of job-seekers, the minister said.

Mungatiwar said, “The aim of this centre is to extend constant help in the form of skills & resources to micro, small & medium scale industries.”

“The 2nd vital agenda aims to develop skill- based training to tribal & rural people of the forest-occupied areas,” he added. (KNN Bureau)
