Maharashtra industry body links with engineering colleges for industry-academia partnership

Pune, June 16 (KNN) In an endeavour to promote industry-academia partnership, the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries, and Agriculture (MCCIA) has launched the K2W initiative allowing engineering students showcase solutions for problems at industry-level.

Students will use prototypes or other means to ideate solutions faced by the industry, as published in TOI.

The last date to apply for the competition is August 15 and top cash prize is Rs1.75 lakh.

The aim of this initiative is to highlight the concerns on lack of industry-academia partnerships, which is crucial to nurture new talent pool.

Speaking about the initiative, Prashant Girbane, DG, MCCIA said, “We have visited a number of engineering colleges over the past few days, and the response from the students and the faculties has been very enthusiastic, as it gives them a chance to work directly with the industries.”

“Some industry problems would be communicated to the participating students, who will then get the chance to present their solutions to a panel of industry experts, such as from the auto, food processing, among others, from the various committees that the MCCIA has,” he added.

Students will be given legal and technical help in case companies decide to deploy the developed prototypes, or upgrade them to industry standards in the future.  (KNN Bureau)
