Maharashtra Defence Expo To Focus On SMEs & Innovation

Mumbai, Feb 5 (KNN) The inaugural edition of the Maharashtra Defence Expo is set to take place in Pune from February 17-19. This event will specifically highlight Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and innovation.

Both the Indian Defence forces and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) will actively participate in this significant showcase of the defence industry, as per senior government officials, reported ANI.

The primary aim of the event is to promote the coastal state as a flourishing hub for defence manufacturing.

Maharashtra proudly boasts a substantial presence of defence Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). The state is home to DRDO laboratories, with their headquarters located in Pune.

Additionally, Maharashtra houses Ordnance Factories, further enhancing its stature in the defence sector. This extensive setup is complemented by a robust network of over 12,500 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

These enterprises play a significant role in contributing to the country's defence ecosystem.

The primary objective of the expo is to provide a strategic platform for prominent industry leaders, innovative start-ups, and dynamic MSMEs to showcase their capabilities, fostering collaboration and unlocking vast potential within the defence sector.

Notably, the event is anticipated to witness the participation of approximately 10,000 students. These students come from various universities and engineering colleges in Maharashtra.

The event provides a unique opportunity for them to engage with top officials from the Tri-Services and industry professionals deeply involved in the defence sector, as per official sources.

The venue for this significant gathering is the Pune International Exhibition and Convention Centre.

Notably, Nibe Limited has been designated as its knowledge partner, as confirmed by state government officials.
